Who Am I?

10 Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 God answered, “I will be with you. — Exodus 3:10-12

We all have questions about our lives…

What am I here for?

What will tomorrow bring?

Moses, the great and mighty deliverer of God’s people, had questions too.

Here in Exodus 3, immediately after God calls him to deliver His enslaved people, Moses responded by asking God this question:

Who Am I?

In other words, Moses asked God “Who am I that I should be able to accomplish so great a task with my abilities?”

What’s fascinating about God’s answer to this question is that it wasn’t to boost Moses’ confidence by telling him more about himself or his skill set.

Instead, God’s response to Moses was simply “I will be with you.”

God wasn’t avoiding the question…

Instead, He wanted Moses to know a truth we all must each remember:

Our confidence in life must never come from what we have,
but rather Who we have in our lives with us.

And the sooner we embrace the capabilities of The One who we have with us, the sooner the impossible in our lives becomes possible!

You know Mike when I read this it made me think about all the times I would find comfort in the Scripture, “If God be for you, who can be against you.” A friend can be for you but yet not with you. But with God we can have Him for us and with us at the same time. Thanks for sparking a wonderful revelation!
