QUICK TIPS: Start With Why

Michael K Quick Tips 2 Comments

“The more organizations and people who learn to start with WHY, the more people there will be who wake up being fulfilled by the work they do.” — Simon Sinek

A few weeks ago, I watched a video on TED.com by Simon Sinek about the importance of knowing & communicating WHY we do the things that we do (check out Simon’s video by clicking here). I really enjoyed Simon’s talk (apparently 21M other people did too ranking Simon’s talk in the top 20 most viewed TED talks of all time!). So naturally when I heard that he had written a book that went further into this concept, I had to add it to my personal book collection.

In his best selling book Start With Why, Simon Sinek takes his message deeper and uses companies such as Apple and Southwest and leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Steve Jobs to show us how millions of people were inspired to buy and follow their messages not because they communicated WHAT needed to happen—they began the conversation by sharing a clear and compelling WHY.

Some books are great reads…

others change the way we live and think.

Start With Why stands as a wonderful example of both!

I highly recommend that you check out this book and embrace its simple yet powerful message!

That’s because I believe that this book has the potential to push you further, faster on your journey towards success.

I’ve enjoyed and trained teams with that video – it’s a good one! In fact, the company I work for uses Simon’s materials to shift mindset and impact culture. The most recent book issued to our leadership team by Simon Sinek is called “Why leaders eat last”. I haven’t read it yet but there’s a YouTube video that summarizes it.

    Thanks for sharing MK!
